UFO Challenge for 26/27 season

This season’s UFO Challenge begins on April 1st! The challenge will run through March 31st, 2027. The deadline for entering the Challenge, to be eligible for the first quarterly drawing, is the April Guild meeting, April 8, 2026.
The official rules and the log sheet are linked below. Your completed log sheet can be hand delivered, sent by photo through text, or emailed. Make sure to keep a copy for yourself.

UFO definition for the Challenge is: any project actually started prior to January 1, 2026 but not completed. Please see Instructions page for complete rules.

March CS mini- retreat

Community service hosted the March mini-retreat with 13 members participating. 11 tops of various sizes were made and now need finished. Thank you all for another successful event and fun had by all.

Plans are progressing for our FUN Seasonal Celebration at The Saguaro Room in Cottonwood (opposite the restaurant).

JOIN THE FUN AND PARTICIPATE IN THESE CHALLENGES

Plans are made to have a 'FESTIVE HAT' contest (rather than an ugly sweater - but you're welcome to wear one). We would like members to find a unique hat or add their own creations to a hat they already have (decorate it with fabric scraps or embellishments) or make your own hat. We will be voting on the most creative hat and awarding prizes.

We would like everyone to bring an exchange gift ($15.00 value.) that is wrapped special - perhaps with fabric or in a unique box or wrapped in a creative way (idea = made to look like a Gingerbread House).

All members are invited so please sign-up and pay for your lunch here, Lunch costs $22.00 which includes a dessert and also tax and tip!

Arizona Quilts for Kids - Community Sew Day

You are invited to join the Community Service Team for an open sew day, Wednesday Oct 1st . We will be working on pre-cut quilt kits. These quilts once finished will go to “Arizona Quilts for Kids”.

We will meet at the Oakwood Sewing Room starting at 9am and ending no later than 2pm. Bring a lunch, your sewing machine, a neutral-colored thread and your normal sewing notions.

Please register for this so we know how many kits to prepare.

AQG Quilt Show Volunteer Position Available

The AQG Quilt Show Committee is looking for one or two people to join the Quilt Entry Team. Kimm Muray wrote “I am looking for someone (or two someones) to take over (a) coordinating the Drop-Off list for 2026 and (b) help run the Returns Event on Saturday of the quilt show.

The Drop-Off work is concentrated in January/February of 2026, and the Returns work is primarily during quilt show week.”

You may know Diana Jones, Blanca Sanchez, Denise Fanrworth and I have been working the show during the quilt intake and judging period. I have enjoyed the job and people involved and feel very good about offering my time giving back to AQG.

If you and a friend are interested in helping out, let me know and I’ll put you in touch or you can reach Kimm Muray, Quilt Show Entry Coordinator, directly. Her contact information is on the AQG website.
