About Us...
Desert Threads was formed as a chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (AQG) in November 2018. We currently average 60+ members. We welcome new faces and all levels of skills and interest. Everyone is invited to attend meetings as a guest and hopefully consider joining us. Anyone interested in anything to do with quilting is invited to join. Although our meetings are held in Sun Lakes, we have members from many of the Southeast Valley and surrounding communities. Our meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of the month with a speaker or program, a brief business meeting, show-and-tell and other activities. We also meet on other days of the month at the Oakwood Sewing Room and at other venues in Chandler for classes, group sewing and friendship. Our volunteers work throughout the year to create and sew quilts and other projects with materials given to us by our generous community. We donate our work to various charities in the area. Members meet to create, learn, socialize and find their people. Our Desert Threads functions have a welcoming social atmosphere where you can enjoy talking about your latest project. Come learn with us and have fun applying your quilting skills crating items for charity or just for fun. We would love to have you visit any meeting and hopefully join us as a member, regardless of age, residency or quilting experience. We look forward to growing together in our favorite hobby in order to better serve our community through the shared love of quilting and quilting fellowship. |
