SeaGlass Quilts

Description: 

Seaglass quilts are a type of improv quilt that use scraps to make something new and beautiful.  A combination of raw edge applique, free motion quilting and a method of laying out the pieces in a specific way that creates dynamic movement resulting in a beautiful quilt.

Pam will teach a method of preparing and cutting the fabric, discuss different design layouts and help guide you through making your quilt top.


NO SEWING MACHINES REQUIRED

Supply list:

Tools:
• Scissors for cutting fused pieces with paper still attached. Serrated edged scissors, like Karen Kay Buckley scissors, work well to keep fabric edges from fraying.
• Small travel iron & pressing pad – optional
• Teflon sheet, ironing cloth or parchment paper for use when ironing fusible web. **** 1 yard of Steam-a-Seam Lite WILL BE PROVIDED. No additional fee.

Fabric:
• ½ yard of quilting cotton for the background. White or o-white is typically used. • Blue, green & light neutral scraps (or choose your glass colors pallet) in 2-4” pieces. Be sure to have a variety of lights and darks and have approx.. 70 pieces.
• Scraps need to be ironed flat ahead of class time.
• Scraps are preferable; yardage is not recommended.
